Guardian Offers the Latest in Advanced Architectural Glass At AIA Convention

Auburn Hills, Mich., May 11, 2015 – Architects and designers looking for ways to combine energy efficiency with their design inspiration will have many industry-leading Guardian glass products to evaluate at the American Institute of Architects Convention in Atlanta May 14-16.

Guardian Industries Corp. will showcase its large complement of commercial and interior glass and glazing products in Booth 2545 at AIA.

“Architects are operating in an increasingly complex environment,” says Chris Dolan, Director of Marketing, North America, Guardian Industries. “In addition to creating beautiful buildings, they must consider sustainable elements from the supply phase to the operational phase. Our AIA display shows how Guardian makes the glass specification process simple. We’ll show you samples of our advanced glazings, walk you through the appearance of the installed glass via our Glass Visualizer tool, and provide examples of energy efficiency successes in our newest projects, including our own Science and Technology Center, which features one of the most advanced curtain walls in the U.S.”

Headlining Guardian’s SunGuard® advanced architectural glass products at AIA are:

  • SunGuard® SNX 51/23, the first commercial low-E glass product with visible light transmission (VLT) above 50 percent and a solar heat gain coefficient below 0.25 on clear float glass. No other commercial glass produced in North America today offers this much light with so little heat. Designed to meet the most stringent North American energy codes without sacrificing appearance, triple silver SunGuard SNX 51/23 combines the highest VLT in its class with low reflectivity and a neutral blue appearance.

  • SunGuard® Spandrel HT, designed for North American building façade spandrel applications that benefit both architects and fabricators. This proprietary coating permanently fuses to the glass surface and has the characteristics of a ceramic frit, with increased uniformity, higher opacity and less potential for streaking with a smooth, matte finish. SunGuard Spandrel HT is available in white, warm gray and black, and in two stock sheets sizes for better cutting optimization: 96 x 130” and 100 x 144”
  • Guardian Glass Visualizer is newly enhanced for visitors to view photorealistic images of buildings with different makeups of Guardian’s high performance, low-E SunGuard® products. Part of the Guardian Glass Analytics online tools, the Glass Visualizer guides architects and designers in selecting SunGuard coatings and substrates and evaluating them from outside or inside. The resulting views show how various sky conditions affect glass appearance. This new version also offers a comparison feature.

Architects and interior designers visiting Booth 2545 will also see the full breadth Guardian InGlass® collection. ShowerGuard® Low-Iron, the newest addition, reduces the greenish cast of standard float glass for a more neutral edge color, which is in demand in today’s popular frameless shower designs.
