Guardian Wins Green Project Design Award
Guardian SunGuard Helps Pinnacle Bank Arena Meet ENERGY STAR Certification
Auburn Hills, Mich. (January 16, 2015) – Guardian Industries Corp. was recognized with a USGlass Magazine 2014 Green Design Honorable Mention for its Guardian SunGuard® SNX 62/27 high performance glazine on the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Designed by the DLR Group and BVH Architects, the 16,500-seat arena showcases the city’s commitment to sustainable design through a high level of energy efficiceny and energy savings measures. With 62 percent visible light transmission, a low, 0.27 solar heat gain coefficient and an impressive light-to-solar gain ratio 2.30, SunGuard SNX 62/27 keeps excessive heat out while letting the sun shine through the multi-story, glass lobby.
The low-E glass helps the center’s heating and cooling equipment operate at its maximum efficiency, contributing to the facility’s ENERGY STAR certification. Pinnacle Bank Arena uses this and multiple other measures to operate at 35 percent less energy than non-certified buildings. It is built to LEED Silver specifications.
“We are honored to be recognized with our partners by USGlass’ panel of experts,” says Rosie Hunter, Guardian Commercial Product Manager. “By sharing the story of glass performance helping energy savings, this annual award program helps all of us deliver the message that building with light doesn’t mean sacrificing building for energy efficiency.”
Also recognized for the Pinnacle Bank Arena project were independent Glazier Connection™ member Glass Edge Inc. and independent Guardian Select® Fabricator Manko Window Systems. This is Guardian’s second consecutive Green Design award.
