Mohamed Sultan

Technical Services Engineer, Guardian Glass

“What got you here, won’t get you there. You can break boundaries, using your passion and experience to do whatever you dream.”

Mohamed is from Tanta, Gharbia, Egypt and he grew up here with dreams of becoming an engineer. Engineering was something that always fascinated him, and he loved the idea that he would be able to help people solve their problems and create a better life for them. This is something that Mohamed mentioned when speaking about the best advice he ever received, he said it was: “Always be helpful to all people. Those who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.”

Amazing opportunities

Mohamed’s passion for engineering led him to study Civil Engineering at university. He realized after some time that it wasn’t exactly what he imagined. This was when he decided he wanted to make an impact and alter the way of learning engineering in his country. He felt that he was learning to be a Civil Engineer, and only a Civil Engineer. Mohamed noted that, “Many engineering students can feel very boxed in by their education and they may never even get to see their own full potential”. Mohamed wants to be a symbol for engineers and show that you can apply your skills and knowledge to so much more than you think.

This can lead to amazing opportunities.

His first job was working as a Structural Design Engineer in a small office where he applied his technical knowledge and skills from his college studies. Since he began this work, he has known that “It’s an experience which is all about failure.” He says, “I was thinking of failure as a bad thing and found that success itself is many trials of failure, we only fail when we stop trying. Surround yourself with people pushing you forward instead of people holding you back. Set a target and draw a line in your mind between this goal and where you're right now, then specify what should you do to get there, don't let anything stop you from getting there.”

Apply your skillset and discover your true self

The next steps of Mohamed’s career journey were working as a Technical Office Engineer and after that a Site Engineer. During the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, Mohamed was not working and used this time to study for his F.E. certification (Fundamental of Engineering) and eventually he joined the Guardian family. He recommends applying to work at Guardian if you want to apply your skillset and discover your true self, passion, and skills. “For me, I was able to discover many skills and talents I didn’t even know I had. I am still making use of the limitless opportunities here to grow, change, and gain experience.”
